The innovative Brother Industries Ltd. created a small vibration-powered generator for gadgets. These batteries claim to be the replacement for  AA and AAA cell type batteries.

Think about it, if you own a digital camera that runs on batteries it can be a bit expensive to keep buying; it’s also a hassle when your digicam runs out of power just when you have a good scene to shoot.

In the future this type of vibration-powered battery could be a great solution not to mention an economical and environmental alternative to the disposable cells that we use for our electronics.

“The new generator will semi-permanently eliminate the need to replace batteries and contribute to reducing the amount of wastes,” Brother Industries said. So you can put this vibration-powered battery in, say, your remote control and generate power just by shaking it, you never have to change batteries again.

The vibration-powered batter is still in its inception stage. The prototype are AA and AAA size batteries. Inside the battery shape case the company has installed an electromagnetic induction generator and an electric double layer capacitor with a capacitance of about 500mF. The average output of the AA-size generator is 10 to 180mW (frequency: 4-8Hz).

Brothers Industries will show case the vibration generating battery on July 21 at the Techno-Frontier 2010 exhibition in Tokyo Japan.
