A 3D digital point-and-shoot camera?
If Sony has its way, the future will be in 3D. Well, industry giant Sony usually has its way so prepare for 3D televisions, music, movies, computers, peripheral equipments such as Blu-ray players or the Playstation 3 and most importantly 3D cameras!
Sony’s president Masashi Imamura told Digital Photography Review, (at the Photography Marketing Association convention), that the Sony is keen in pushing 3D technology when it comes to their consumer cameras.
This means that the 3D technology Sony is incorporating in Blu-ray hardware or in animated movies like Cloudy With the Chance of Meatballs, will be passed on to your point and shoot camera!
Any Joe could use a 3D camera soon. Can you imaging Facebook profiles in 3D?
WHAT IT MEANS FOR PHOTO ENTHUSIASTS…
There may be a Sony 3D digital SLR camera in the very near future. The Sony Alpha DSLR will be apt for 3D technology, there is no question, but will we see it in 2010?
Will the photos taken from the future Alpha DSLR look like High Dynamic Range photos only more real? The questions, as with the possibilities, are endless.
For Sony to achieve the top tier in digital SLR it has to knock down digital imaging juggernauts Canon and Nikon. Sony’s strategy is “product differentiation”. 3D as a new step in digital photography, it really does seem, is the way to go for Sony.
3D CAMERAS OUT IN THE MARKET NOW
If you’re a photographer in the loop you would know that Fuji already released a 3D digital camera last year. Reviews for the Fuji 3D camera have been dismal. Seeing that it will be from Sony, (no offense Fuji), it will no doubt be a higher end, maybe that’s why the company hasn’t released any 3D camera as of yet.
The Fuji film camera is able to take 3D pictures by using two lenses, captured simultaneously at slightly different viewing angles. The 3D ‘Interval Shooting’ mode allows two shots to be taken from different viewpoints continuously while the photographer is moving, designed to achieve 3D images of long distance views.
Sony is set to do better in making your digital camera be 3dfied!
