Nikon announced its follow up to last year’s camera with built-in projector; the Nikon Coolpix S1100pj projector camera.
The latest Nikon Coolpix compact camera is the successor to the S1000pj, which was a breakthrough point and shoot camera in terms of features. The compact camera integrated a projector so you can display/project images on a big scale.
The new Nikon Coolpix S1100pj has 14.1 megapixel sensor with a 3.0 LCD that has a higher resolution. The projector has also been improved with greater brightness, throw distance and image size.
According to the camera company “At 14 lumen, the projector is 40% brighter than its predecessor, enabling projection in new situations such as in lighter rooms or against lighter surfaces. It can also be linked to your PC or Mac so stored pictures or presentations can be shown instantly through the projector.”
The Nikon Coolpix S1100pj also has 5x optical zoom. Nikon also said that “to ensure crisp photographs every time, the camera contains five functions to reduce image blur, while convenient modes such as Easy Auto mode and Smart Portrait System mean you don’t have to worry about choosing the right setting for your shot, leaving you to focus on getting just the right picture.”
Other features of the Nikon Coolpix S1100pj projector camera include Fisheye effect, selective colour highlighting on an otherwise monochrome picture, and background softening, so you don’t have to go anywhere near a computer to edit your images. To liven up your slideshows you can use the built-in animations, background music or slide transitions.
The price tag for the latest Nikon Coolpix S1100pj projector camera is cheaper than its previous model at £ 349.99.

Cannot beat Canon
Owning a Canon for years, this just did not take pictures I was happy with. They look ok on the display but when printing them they are just not pictures I even want to keep in my albums, I will use my old Canon until I can afford a new one. I am not impressed at all I never should have switched to a new brand.
Broke after 1 month
I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. When I went to turn the camera on after one month of owning it, it completely broke---the shutter jammed and the only way for it to stop making noise was to remove the battery. Prior to it breaking, I still was unhappy with it---the touch screen is poor. If you have an Iphone and are acclimated with it's touch screen, you will find the touch screen on the Nikon absolutely maddening! The HD projector screen is the feature that enticed me to buy it---although pretty cool, it is not worth the price and quality of the camera. I am now returning the camera to the manufacturer for repair, however, I plan to give this camera away or let it collect dust on my shelf. I have been a Canon camera-user for over 10 years and have no idea why decided to purchase anything different.
