Will you buy SanDisk’s newly released 64 GB SDXC memory card sold at US$349.99 for your digital camera?
SanDisk announced the release of its new 64 GB SDXC (Extended Capacity) memory card at the 2010 Photo Marketing Associations (PMA) Convention in California. This is the company’s highest capacity ever. SanDisk offers Class 4 speed with maximum data transfer speed of up to 15 MB. The card is available immediately at www.sandisk.com via the U.S. e-commerce site.
The latest SanDisk card is perfect for making lengthy video in your digital camera and storing huge 1080p High-Definition video files and then transferring them quickly to a computer.
Most of the new cameras released this year have adjusted to accommodate the SDXC format. Take note, if you decide to buy the 64 GB SDXC make sure your camera supports the new memory card.
SDXC And The Future Of Digital Cameras…
Here at Camera.co.uk we predict that the future of digital imaging will be the evolution of the point-and-shoot digital camera to a point-and-shoot-and-video camera, perhaps with one that plays HD movies as well.
Evidence of this is SanDisk and its competitors who are working hard to bring high capacity memory cards to the mainstream market. In the future, you can store not just ‘Gigabytes’ but ‘Terabytes’ worth of videos. These memory cards will have rapid interface of up to 300 MB per second, that’s 15 times faster than the current fastest offering. Not bad for a piece of device that is no bigger than your thumb.
Know Your SDXC
SDXC (SD eXtended Capacity) is the newest incarnation of the Secure Digital storage memory card. It was also preceded by the SDHC (SD High-Capacity) card. SD cards can store up to 2GB while SDHC keeps 32 GB of memory. Now the SDXC, the testosterone brother of the two SD version, can hold terabytes. Just to see the scale of the SDXC, while an 160GB Ipod can hold 40,000 songs a 1 terabyte SDXC will, in the future, hold at least 500,000 songs!
Imagine how this can revolutionize digital cameras? Anyone can make a full length movie with a great digital camera and a SDXC memory card!
