Get your digital cameras ready early in the morning, that’s the best time to shoot landscape photography!

The sun constantly changes position, you can’t change that fact. In landscape photography this means any change in the sun will produce a different effect on your, well, landscape.

The best time to do landscape is in the early morning and at dusk when the sun is about to sleep. The shadow it casts produces long and dramatic images. In the winter the sun is quite low and the shadows will even be more exaggerated which equates to a more striking landscape photograph.

The least photogenic time to shoot landscapes is midday when the sun is high and the shadows cast are shorter, flat and sometimes featureless. Landscape photographs have warmer tone in the wee hours of the morning and as the sun sets so it’s another reason to wake up early or patiently wait for the sun to set. Pictures taken at these times will appear redder or more orange than those taken in the middle of the day.

Many professional photographers get up early ( just before the crack of dawn) so they can be in the position to capture the quality of light as dawn breaks, so take inspiration, you may get a great landscape photograph.

Research before you photoshoot so you know where the sun will be and how light falls on yor landscape, depending on the time of the year. Early and late rays of sunlight can illuminate an isolated area of a landscape in much the same way as a giant spotlight trained on the scene.

Hard work i.e. waking up early pays off, as it results in a beautiful landscape photo taken from your very own digital camera!
