Canon Unveils IXUS 300HS, the Ultimate Compact Camera

Canon released the IXUS 300HS, an ultra-compact camera that features the mega brand name’s new HS system.

The IXUS 300 HS is the first model to feature Canon’s new HS System, combining a high-sensitivity 10.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor with fast DIGIC 4 processing for enhanced low light performance and high-speed shooting.

According to Canon “The new HS System provides excellent performance in low light, making the most of the camera’s back-illuminated CMOS imaging sensor and DIGIC 4 processor, supporting a maximum ISO of 3200 at full resolution and reducing noise levels at all ISO speeds2”.

Canon compact cameras are industry known for its good quality and speedy processor so the HS system is something to look forward to.

The IXUS 300HS uses a 28-105mm f2.0-5.3 stabilized zoom lens, which similar to Canon’s S90.

Photos can be viewed with the 3 inch LCD sensor and P/A/S/M shooting modes.

The IXUS 300 HS is an ultra compact camera that can be manually controlled. ‘The lens’ wide maximum aperture and its manually-controlled iris also provide users with greater control over depth of field, enabling the capture of impressive portraits and striking macro shots. This level of optical performance has been achieved using the same processes and quality standards used to manufacture Canon’s series of EF professional lenses, which are used and trusted by millions of users the world over’, said Canon in a press statement.

A cool feature of the IXUS 300HS records slow motion video, 340×240 movies at 240 fps. The IXUS 300HS can capture 720p HD videos.

The delicious looking IXUS 300HS is available in blasted steel silver, matt black or glossy white.
