Love this camera!

5 stars

I am loving this camera and though I am still learning about all of the different settings I can still get very good images right out of the box. You can use custom settings or when you're unsure there are great AUTO settings that will help bridge the gap until you learn what your preferences are.

Nice Camera, Lots of Bells and Whistles.

5 stars

I have had this camera for about 2 weeks. Have shot some sports, nature, a wedding, our 4 dogs running around the house. I am using an EF-S 17-85mm IS USM, 35-135mm USM and a 100-300mm USM lenses. I am not a professional photographer and upgraded from a point and shoot. I used to own a 35mm film camera but just recently returned to taking pics as a hobby. This camera has many of the same functions as you would find in the 7D. I hear the T2i is the "baby 7D." I usually shoot at 8 MP for most shots, but if you want to shoot using the full 18MP be prepared to use some larger memory cards. If you do use the video I would recommend the fastest memory card you can afford. I am using a Sandisk 8 gig Ultra III at 30megs/sec. The video is clear and crisp at 1080p. You can shoot a movie using this video. The camera's features are amazing, I rarely use the flash and taking pictures inside a church without the flash the pics came out amazingly well. Crank the ISO up to 6400 and there are no problems. Using a lens with USM also makes a big difference. If you can afford it, take the $50 that you would spend on the kit lens and buy the EF-S 17-85mm IS USM. It's a perfect match. Overall, you won't be disappointed. The only difference between the T2i and the 7D is the speed of the burst mode which is 3.7 fps versus like 8 or so on the 7D, the info window on the top of the body, and the extra $1000 on the body. Everything else is the same but you'll have to look at the pro reviews to make that determination. The best thing is that you have many lens choices so if you do move to a higher level camera you can take your lenses with you (canon cameras). There's just too much to tell. I take it everywhere.

Purchased the Canon T2i body to replace my old Canon Rebel XTi and was pretty impressed with all the features. Specially love the full HD recording capability.

New Edition to the Family

5 stars

I use the canon 40D for my main camera. This purchase was for the HD Video. It was also meant to be a camera for my significant other to use. She was using a 20D I had, but was struggling with it. The new Rebel was easyn for her to use and the quality of the images even impressed me. The video quality is top notch. I recommend this for the beginner, novice, and advanced filmer, photographer.

The display screen was stunning the first time I reviewed my images, it's size and clarity are amazing. Images right off the bat were properly metered and exposed without my assistance and when I turned the ISO up to 64000 just to see, the noise was non-existent even in bokeh and out-of-focus areas

Love this camera

5 stars

I love this camera I upgraded from a Canon XTI. I'm not so sure about the video though, Pretty much have to use a tripod with video it seems impossible to hold the camera still. Defenatly need a usm lens otherwise you can hear your lens focusing very loudly in the video or use Manuel focus.

I have had this camera since late November 2011. Since then I have taken about 1500 photo's. I have been to car shows, gardens, outdoor landscape etc. In every instance I have had great photo's. The camera is very flexible in what programs you can use. It is an easy camera to carry and learn. I have a CANON 18-135, a TAMRON 15-70 and a CANON 55-250 and all of them produce excellent results. If I get a bad photo it is because of me, trying new options or settings. This is my 1st DSLR and I couldn't be happier I get great low light photo's using the TAMRON 17-50mm, f/2.8 VC lens.

Great Camera

5 stars

If you want very clear, very sharp pictures then this camera is for you, especially if you already have Canon lenses. The feature sets are excellent and it is definitely a camera you can grow in to. The weight is just right for me. A word of caution: don't skimp on the SDHC card you buy. Get a card with a write speed that is 5mb/s or higher. I bought a lower speed card but had to get a higher speed card almost immediately so that I could take videos. The video won't write to a lower speed card. I finally bought a SanDisk with a 15 mb/s speed and it works great. Also invest in a mini-HDMI cable if you want to watch video on hi-def TV. By the way, the videos are excellent too, but you have to remember that it is primarily a still camera, and you can be limited on the amount of time you can video based on the card's capacity (i.e., 2,4,8,16GB) I think this camera is well worth the investment.

Fantatic Upgrade!

5 stars

I bought this to upgrade my Rebel XTI and and completely happy. I am having so much fun with all of the new features and the large high resolution LCD on the back. Checking for sharp images has never been easier. I have yet to really take much video with it since I have a dedicated HD cam but am looking forward to working with this feature as well. My only wish would be for a larger body to fit my hands better.

stutter button sticking

3 stars

I sold my Sony A300 DSLR to upgrade to the T2i I was very excited to get this camera .We took on vacation last weekend and it started having issues with shutter button sticking you have to mess with it,turn on off ect..I even tried different lens still same issue.I called canon and because it doesn't happen all the time they said it'd be hard to dignois issue..As it happens outside, inside ect in auto mode with liveview and without so not same settings ect either. A friend of ours had the T1i for 13 days and had similar problem but his won't even take pics at all,and he also knew someone else with T1i that had similar issue they both returned there camera T1i for replacements.I am waiting till mine has problem more often because I can't be without my camera for 3-4 weeks Canon needs to fix it..I'm just hoping this is not a issue that is just showing up with ths model cameras ..Has anyone else had this problem???

The pictures come out amazing. I am not a pro photographer but I have taken some classes on it and its perfect for me. Can be basic and easy for a newbie but also able to adjust shutter speed, apeture, and focus on your own if you want. All buttons are easy to use if you already own or know how to opertate a cannon camera but a little tricky if you don't.

Great camera for the price

5 stars

I bought this camera to replace my dead 20D, It is a vast improvement.Besides it's 18 mb it also does video in Hd.There have been times in the past when I wished I had a video camera with me but didn't want to carry another camera just for video.Problem solved! The high iso shots are superior to those taken with my XSI.I have always carried 2 cameras to keep from changing lenses from wide to telephoto, the main reason .for this purchase.I use it mainly for wide angle with a Sigma 10-20mm and the results are great.I plan to buy a battery pack soon because video does use a lot of battery power. You won't be disappointed with this camera. Also the price was the best around .

Great performance!

5 stars

Hands down this is an awesome machine. I would highly recommend this camera for indi filmmakers. There is a lot of latitude for exposure and the cost to achieve incredible depth of field is cheap. This model controls frame rate and shutter speed, nice for slow motion and action sequences. This camera performs very well in manual or full auto, depending on the needs of the photographer. My advice for anyone would be to read the manual to familiarize your self with the settings. This is a great buy!

This is a good camera . easy to use and excellent picture. I alway liked Canon better than Nikon, Pictures are more natural than Nikon. I thought the pictures will bw noisy, sice this hass 18MP, but it isn't. The price wass OK, however bestbuy's price was higher than other stores. ie. You can buy from about 100 USD less. I bought it from Bestbuy becase I can pay within 3 years.

Excellent, Feature-Rich, Camera

5 stars

The t2i is my first SLR camera. I went in knowing enough about photography to be capable, but am by no means a professional. In my time with the camera I've taken some great shots, and really noticed an improvement in my photography. The first thing I noticed about the t2i is how good the pictures look on auto mode. This is handy when I take the camera with me on backpacking trips/ hikes and don't have a long time to take considerations into the manual settings. Wildlife often doesn't stand still while you put consideration into aperture or shutter speed. The second thing I noticed about this camera is how well placed all of the buttons are. Within a week of solid use I was able to familiarize myself with the buttons to the point of being able to make changes without even looking at the body or taking it away from my eye. I like this as it makes things really fluid as I moved from full auto mode to manual mode(s). I'm very happy with this camera. The features it comes with for the price are unrivaled on the market today (as of writing this review on 4/21/2010). The body is also considerably lighter than most of them I looked at. This is exceptionally handy when I'm carrying it, a good lens, and a tripod 11 miles into the Smoky Mountains for some waterfall photography or to simply shoot what nature shows me. The view finder is excellent, the on screen diagnostics are amazing, and the photographs are picture frame worthy.

Fantastic Camera

5 stars

This is a fantastic camera. It takes incredible pictures in both dark and light. The 6400 ISO settings are just outstanding. I bought this camera without a lens because i already had a bunch for my other Canon camera. they fit perfectly. This camera has live view and also shoots Hi Def video. it takes some time getting use to the Hi Def video. I bought this camera for the stunning 18 MP pictures and hi 6400 ISO settings. Not for it's ability to take Hi Def video. it is just an added bonus.

Above the competition by far

5 stars

I upgraded to this camera after having an older digital rebel (4 years old) that was showing it's age. I've built up quite a collection of lenses over the past few years and was planning on taking the next step to Canon's professional DSLR lineup. However, after doing some research it seemed that for the money the other DSLR's didn't offer enough advantages to warrant spending thousands of dollars more. After receiving this camera I really couldn't be happier. The picture quality is fantastic, as is the 1080p video. The features make this camera extremely future-proof and for the price you really can't beat it. Buy this camera. You won't be disappointed.
