1. RAW is better

The best way to capture the real color of your subject is by shooting raw. File formats like JPEG compress information to reduce the file size so that it can take up less storage. RAW takes up bigger space in your hard drive but it can preserve color profiles and tonal range.

2. Light is might

Photography is really about capturing light so the more you experiment it the better you get at taking photos. There are a lot of light source available for you. Perhaps a window with the sun pouring in, a night lamp used as a spot light for still life fruits? Creativity is king in photography.

3. Less is more

Clutter, just like in real life makes for an eye sore. To emphasize the subject more sometime its good if the background is clean and that your subject stands out,

4. Control the ISO

Choose the lowest ISO setting for well lit situations. It means less noise and smoother tones.

5.The color pops

What I love about the earlier Canon Sureshot models is the color effect they had in the settings. What happens is you choose a color to use and the picture will be shot in black and white with only that particular shade in full color. Of course you can do that in Photoshop as well. May be that can serve as an inspiration for you to do something similar. Focus on the colors.
